Morrill Hall hosting 'Dinosaurs and Disasters' fun day

The 8th annual "Dinosaurs and Disasters" family fun day is from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

on Saturday, Feb. 4 at Morrill Hall (N. 14^th Street on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln

campus). "Dinosaurs and Disasters" provides a day of discovery and hands-on activities

throughout the museum with more than 20 stations staffed by UNL scientists,

graduate, and undergraduate students. This year’s theme is Droughts and Floods. For

Movie Night

This coming Friday, January 13, is movie night in the gym. The featured movie will be "The Smurfs." Free popcorn and water for all and it begins at 6:30.

Culture Grams

Students have been working this week with Mrs. Smith on Culture Grams. Everyone chose a country to research, took notes and then wrote a short script about their country. This afternoon, we will be videotaping the kids sharing what they found out. Thanks to Mrs. Smith for her great ideas and help!

Beginning at 9:00, Anita Martin will be working with students to make bandanas and homemade treats for the animals awaiting adoption at the Capital Humane Society. Plum Creek

Thanks to all of the parents who were able to attend the Plum Creek Literacy Festival in Seward on Friday. It was a weather-perfect day! Students attended great sessions with authors Grace Lin and Brian Pinkney who were outstanding. I want to compliment our kids for their wonderful behavior the entire day.

We are really excited to meet with author/illustrator Brian Pinkney on Thursday when he visits Riley. Then on Friday, we will board the bus and head to Seward for the Plum Creek Children's Literacy Festival. It looks like the weather will be great!
